Peacock Passion

I colored this peacock with regular style markers, using mainly the brush end with the fine tip in the smaller areas. You really can't do much shading using markers but I think it still turned out nicely. The shading that I did do was using a darker marker and a lighter one, like the Always Artichoke and the Wild Wasabi markers.

Perfect Peacock stamp (#133830)
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set
Melon Mambo Striped Organdy ribbon (#129293)

Patterned paper 2 3/4 x5 3/4
White card stock
Very Vanilla card stock 6 x 6"
Subtles Candy Dots (#130933)

Get ready for Christmas

Yes, us crafters have to start getting ready for Christmas early. For some of us, September is even a bit late to start! Here are 3 cards that I made from the gift that came with the September Quick Cards Made Easy magazine. The stamps and embossing folder are made by Tiddly Inks and Christy Crolf.

I colored them with Watercolor Crayons that I got from SU! a few years ago. I've tried using the new Blendabilites markers that SU has come out with and I just have not been satisified with my results. Maybe I need to play with them more. Don't know. In the meantime, I'll use coloring methods that I know I can do. lol

The papers, card stock, ribbons, & buttons are also from SU! I think that they are all retired items so I'm not going to post the item numbers for them. I know that you can find papers that will look great.

From now until Thanksgiving, I'll be really busy with Operation Christmas Child. As an area coordinator for OCC, I volunteer all year long but things get really busy in the fall. I know that I will still be making cards but I don't know how much time I'll have for posting them on the internet. I will try not to have any lapses in my posting, but if I miss a few days, please check back again. I'm not planning on stopping my blog. Sometimes, life just gets in the way.

BTW, if you live in the Central Texas area, we will be having our Kick Off Rally on Sept. 20 from 9:30-1;30 with a free lunch. Come learn more about OCC. We have some great things planned. We will also have a silent auction where I'll have 3 sets of cards for sale to benefit our OCC program. One set will be a Christmas set, including these 3 cards.

More Sympathy

I heard from another friend that a lady I used to teach with lost her mother recently. While I had met her mother, I really didn't know her but I know how it feels to lose a mother. I made this card to send to that friend.
I know opinions differ but I've always felt that sympathy cards should be fairly simple in design. I used plain black and white card stock for this card with a dark green ribbon and ink. I used the Love & Sympathy stamp set that SU currently has. (#122797)

Colored card stock
White card stock or watercolor paper
Watercolor Pencils
Aqua painter
Matching ribbons
Scalloped Edge punch
Stampin' Dimensionals

I colored these images with watercolor pencils. I've tried all the different kinds of markers but my favorite medium is still watercolor pencils. I colored my images and cut them out loosly around the edge. This is a simple card to make. Just follow the pictures.

Wisteria Blooms and Circles

Materials needed:
Bloom with Hope stamp set (#133953, hostess)
Lost Lagoon card stock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Gable Green card stock 2 3/4 x 4 1/4"
White card stock
Shades of Spring patterned paper
Lost Lagoon ribbon
Cuttlebug Circles embossing folder
Big Shot machine
Wisteria Wonder ink pad
Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430)

As I mentioned in Monday's post, the Cuttlebug dies don't quite fill up the A2 size cards. On this one, if you look at the edges, you can see where the embossing didn't go all the way to the edges. You have to decide how important that is to you and how important the embossed design is.
