Super Busy

I do hope that you will forgive me for the next month or so. I don't know if I'll have any time to make cards, much less get them posted on here. I know that I do not have a huge following but I do appreciate those of you who take a look at my cards. I average 400-500 hits a month so I know that there are people looking. I hope you like what you see and get some ideas for it.

The past month has been very busy and the next month is going to be even busier. Some of you are aware that I am a volunteer for Operation Christmas Child. I have volunteered time to OCC for several years but this past February, I became the area coordinator for the Mid-Texas area. We cover 6 counties across the middle of Texas. It is mainly a rural area and we have about 300 miles from east to west. This is our busiest time of year. We are still working on getting some new groups involved in the program and we are getting things ready for national collection week the 3rd week in November. I have several places where I have committed to speak and/or have a display so that will keep me busy. As area coordinator, I seem to be the one who gets to answer all the questions that come up. Sometimes, I have to call or look on the internet to find answers.

In addition to all of my Operation Christmas Child responsibilities, my family has been keeping me very busy this month too and will continue to keep me busy for a while. My brother was in a very serious accident 2 weeks ago and so I have been spending a lot of time at the hospital. I have a cousin who recently passed away and my baby girl (44 years old, but still my baby) will be having surgery on Oct. 29. My husband has elected to have dental surgery next month and I'm having hand surgery. While all of these are not super serious, they have been keeping me very busy. Please pray for my family as we go through these things.

As I have time to make the occasional card, I will try to get it posted on here. Also, hopefully, in December, I will be able to get back to my normal routine and be able to post cards on a regular basis again. Until then, check back from time to time and please have patience with me. I still love card making and hope I can encourage you from time to time. I will be back.

Here are a few pictures from our Count Down Event for OCC that was held on Sept. 20

We have a tail gate theme and lots of door prizes.

Pastor Appreciation

October is Pastor Appreciation month. I made this card to send to the pastor at my church. Pastor's and their families do a lot in order to serve their congretation. Let your pastor know that you do appreciate him/her. Pray for them often, also. I also made a similiar card to send to our music pastor.
Materials needed:
Pumpkin pie card stock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
International Bazaar patterned paper 4 x 5 1/4"
Pumpkin pie satin ribbon
Baked Brown Sugar card stock
White card stock
Pumpkin pie ink
Stampin' Dimenionals (#104430)
Trust God stamp set (#126702)
Framelits Labels collection (#125598)

This card is easy to make. Just cut, stamp, emboss and adhere together. Nothing fancy to make a good card.

Zentangle Framed Card

Most zentangles are done in black and white but I wanted to add some colors to this one. Check out more about zentangle here or google it.

Materials needed:
Completed zentangle
Patterned paper 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Top note Bigz die (#113463)

After you've done a zentangle that is slightly smaller than your card size, cut out a top note die pattern and use the negative space that you have left over. Save the top note for another project. Adhere the top note "frame" over the zentangle. Then adhere the entire thing onto a card stock base.
Zentangles take a lot of time but they can be very relaxing. You might want to do some while you are watching TV in the evenings or maybe when you are on a long trip and you are not the driver.

Dollar Tree and scraps Card

This card is a bit blurry because the butterfly is thick and made the other part move when I scanned it.
Materials needed:
Burlap & feathers butterfly from Dollar Tree
Scrap card stock 2 x 3 1/2"
Scrap patterned paper 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Solid color card stock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set
Word Window punch
Modern Label punch
Butterfly brads from a craft store
Glue dots

This was very easy to put together. I did put plenty of glue dots on the butterfly to hold it in place. I put 5-6 glue dots. This card can not be mailed in a regular envelope because of it's thickness. I requires a larger envelope and extra postage.

Peek-a-boo Flowers

Bermuda Bay flowers from Secret Garden stamp set.
Punch 5 circles with different sized circle punches in the patterned paper. Lightly trace the inside of the circle on white card stock. Stamp the flower over the circles. Erase any pencils marks left showing with an art gum eraser. Adhese the pattened paper over the stamped images so that they show through the cirlces.

Now don't you wish you could have come to our Ladies Retreat and had a chance to win some cards made just for you!

Wildflower Meadow

This is the Wildflower Meadow background stamp colored with SU markers. I then embossed it with the matching Wildflower Meadow embossing folder. I placed tiny pearls in the center of 3 flowers and then added 3 pearls on the Lost Lagoon ribbon.

Fall Windows

For this card, I wanted something a bit more fallish so I used Pumpkin Pie card stock. The patterned papers are again from the Greenhouse Gala set. These pieces were made from different sides of papers that I had leftover. The blue felt flowers were carried by SU several years ago. I wrapped floss around the top section 3 times and adhere it to the back.
The blue background for this card was made from the white card stock base. I applied Night of Navy ink directly to the card stock. I didn't need to cover the entire card because I was putting the Pumpkin Pie on top of it.
