Accordion Fold Card

This past Saturday, I spent some time making an accordion fold card for my husband for Father's Day. Now, I know that it's too late for you to make something for Father's Day but this type of card can be made for many different occassions, anniversaries, birthdays, baby events, etc.
Materials needed:
Plaid Paper Journeys Accordion Cards
Countryside stamp set (#120495)
Need for Speed stamp set (#122717)
Harvest Blessings stamp set (#126452)
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (#115370)
Various patterned papers
Night of Navy card stock
White card stock
Really Rust ink pad
Ruby Red ink
Wild Wasabi ink
Night of Navy ink
Creamy Carmel ink
Early Expresso ink
Cardmaker's Card Quotes by Hot Off the Press
DCWV Quote Sticker Stack, family
Xyron Create a Sticker 150
Word Window punch
Modern Label punch
Baked Brown Sugar twine

I used several things that were pre-made to make it easier on me. I can make my own accordion fold card/book, but since Plaid already has one made for you, it's a whole lot easier.
1. Count the pages you want to decorate. You can do just one side or you can do both sides of the book. The book is 5 x 5" so I cut paper to fit that size. I can 8  pieces. That covered the front & back and the inside pages. Adhere each paper to the book.
2. For my title, I hand lettered it on white card stock. Then I inked the outer edge of the card stock with Night of Navy ink. Stamp a greeting on white card stock with Night of Navy ink. Punch the greeting out with the Word Window punch. Punch a Modern Label from Night of Navy card stock with the punch. Adhere the greeting in the center of the card stock label. Adhere that to the bottom left side.
3. Tie a piece of twine about 12" long around the left edge of the card. Tie 2 or 3 more pieces of twine around other folds in the card.
4. My husband like machines so I chose tractors, cars, boats, etc for the images on my card. You can use whatever images your person likes. There are so many stamps available covering just about everything you can imagine from SU and from local stores. I stamped all of the images that I planned to use on white card stock with varying colors of ink.

5. Cut out all the images. The ones that are small enough run through the Xyron machine. I also run some of the quotes through the machine. I think it makes it easier.
Then you can peel them off and place on the pages as you wish. I placed or adhered an image and a quote or saying on each of my pages.

I could have put a lot more work into this project but this says I love you & I'm glad you're the father of my children.

Bouquet for Mom

So much simpler than it looks. Just score and fold accordion style.

Materials needed:
Secret Garden stamp set (#129144)
Simply Sketched stamp set (#129672, hostess, retired)
Secret Garden framelits dies (#129372)
Kraft card stock 10 1/2 x 5"
White card stock
Washi tape
Crisp Cantaloupe ink
Crushed Curry ink
Raspberry Ripple ink
Coastal Cabana ink
Primrose Petals ink
Midnight Muse ink

1. Measure, score and fold your Kraft card stock at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 4 1/4, 6, and 8 1/4." Fold at the scores accordion style.
2. Stamp 2 or more of the flower images from the Secret Garden stamp set on white card stock. Use the colors listed or your favorite ink colors. You need 15 flowers.
3. Cut the flower images with the Secret Garden framelits that fit that image and your Big Shot machine. This is what makes this so easy!
4. Place a strip of Washi tape across the front panel. Place adhesive on the bottom half of each flower image and place on the top of each "mountain" fold. Allow the images to overlap. Do this on all 3 mountain folds.
5. Near the "valley" of the last fold, stamp your greeting for mom. For this card, I stamped a birthday greeting but there are so many mother's day stamps out there it will be easy to find one. If not a stamp then write your happy mother's day greeting on the fold.

You can make this card using any flower stamps that you have on hand but without a matching die, it will take a lot more time having to cut our each flower, unless you have punches to match them.
Be sure you give your mom or mom-in-law something nice for Mother's Day. Both of mine have now been gone for several years. I miss their sweet smiles.

This was in the latest Card Maker Magazine but I've seen this style card around for years now.

Purse Card

Ok, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. I got this idea from the Summer 2014 issue of Card Maker Magazine. Of course, mine is different but the basics are the same.

Materials needed:
Wildflower Meadow stamp set (#129168)
Wildflower Meadow embossing folder (#129376)
Really Good Greetings stamp set (#130333)
Red card stock 5 1/2 x 9"
Light blue card stock 3 pieces  2 3/4 x 5 1/4" and 1 piece 1 1/4 x 5 1/4"
White card stock 3 pieces 2 1/2 x 5" and 1 piece 1 x 5"
Coordinating patterned paper 1 x 5"
Scallop edge border punch
Brights Button collection (#119747)
Washi tape from Wal Mart
Melon Mambo marker
Cherry Cobbler marker
Gumball Green marker
Melon Mambo ink pad
Score board

1. Use the scallop edge border punch to punch one of the 5" ends.
2. Place the red card stock with the long edge on the score board horizontally. Score at 3, 3 1/2, 4 and  7".
Accordion fold on the score lines.
3. Stamp  and emboss the 2 pieces of the white card stock. I used the Wildflower Meadow stamp and embossing folder. Adhere the white card stock onto 2 of the light blue card stock pieces. Adhere one piece to the front of the "purse" and the other to the top inside as shown in the picture. Stamp a greeting at the top of the inside piece.
4.  Adhere the last piece of white card stock on to the last blue piece. At the bottom of that piece, place a strip of Washi tape all the way across. You can write your special note here.
5. Adhere the small piece of patterned paper to the small piece of blue card stock. Adhere it to the flap of the purse. Adhere 3 small buttons to the center of the patterned paper.
