Get Ready Grad

This is the time of year for graduates. Here is another card for a graduate in your life. This one is a bit minimalist but I think it will work for the young man that it's going to.

Materials needed:
Perfectly Preserved stamp set (#126692)

Perfect Punches (#120516)
Pacific Point card stock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Coastal Cabana card stock 4 x 5 1/4"
Crisp Cantaloupe card stock about 2 x 3 1/4"
White card stock
Midnight Muse ink and marker
Crisp Cantaloupe ink
Modern Label punch
Stampin' Dimenionals (#104430)
Art gum eraser
Pencil

1. Using Midnight Muse ink, stamp the jar image from Perfectly Preserved and congratulations greeting from Perfect Punches stamp set. Punch out the greeting with the Modern Label punch. You can punch out the jar image with the Perfectly Preserved dies or just cut it out with scissors.
2. Using Crisp Cantaloupe ink, stamp the jar top on white card stock. Cut it out.
3. I decided to do hand lettering for this card because I didn't have the stamps that said what I wanted. I don't do hand lettering often but when I do, I always use pencil first to get the letters how I want them. What I do most often is sort of a stylized version of the D'Nealian alphabet that is taught in many elementary schools. It is the style that I taught the last several years of my teaching career. On this project, I wrote the "get ready" on crisp cantaloupe card stock and dreams in the center of the jar image. After I had the lettering the way I wanted, I used a Midnight Muse marker to go over the pencil letters. After giving it a brief time to dry, I used an art gum eraser to erase my pencil markers. DO NOT use the eraser at the end of a pencil. It will smear often and is not worth the chance.
I finished my saying on the inside of the card so that it all reads "Get ready to make your dreams come true."

This completes the thought and uses the same style of letters. After you finish your greeting on the Crisp Cantaloupe card stock, cut it out to measure about 1 x 3."
4. Adhere the Coastal Cabana card stock on top of the Pacific Point card stock. Adhere the jar image in the bottom right corner of the card and the greeting across the top at an angle. Adhere the "congratulatios" vertically on the left side of the card.
5. Place Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the jar lid and place it over the jar at an angle.
6. Adhere the card front on the card base where you wrote the rest of your greeting on the inside.
Now, for most grads, you will want to add your signature on the bottom of a check made out to the grad.

Congrads Bear

My preferred size for card making is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" but I've run out of the envelopes that work for that size card so I made a card for the size envie that I have, a 5 x 7" envie.

Materials needed:
Perfect Punches stamp set (#120516)
Soho Subway patterned paper (#130140) 2 1/2 x 4 1/4" and 4 1/2 x 6 1/2"
Baked Brown Sugar card stock 4 3/4 x 6 3/4"
White card stock 7 x 10" scored and folded at 5" on the long side
White card stock 8 1/2 x 11"
Fizzy Moon digi kits from Daisy Trail
Brads Subtles (#119738)
Modern Label punch
1" Bashful Blue Grosgrain Double stitched ribbon (retired)
Baked Brown Sugar ink pad
Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430)

1. Print 3 graduating bears each about 3 1/2" tall on white card stock. Cut out the first one completely around the outside edge. Cut out the paws and one foot and the grad cap on the second bear. On the third bear, cut out the top of the grad cap.
2. Place a Stampin' Dimensional on the back of each of the pieces and mount them on top of the same piece on the whole bear. On the third one, mount the top of the grad cap on to the second one.
3. Adhere the ribbon near the bottom of the patterned paper and wrap around to the back. Adhere the patterned paper to the Baked Brown Sugar card stock.
4.Adhere the grad bear on top of the patterned paper as shown on the card.
5. Stamp and punch out the congratulations from the Perfect Punches stamp set on white card stockwith Baked Brown Sugar ink. Adhere it to the patterned paper on the right hand side just above the ribbon. Punch small holes on each side of the label and add brads.
6. Adhere the card front to the cut and folded white card stock.

Happy Graduation

Here is the graduation card that I made for my granddaughter. I used her school colors. I don't know why they have 3 colors these days. When I graduated from the same school in 1965, the colors were just blue and white. Some where along the way they added red to it.

Real Red cardstock 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Pacific Point cardstock 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White cardstock 5" x 3 3/4"
Framelits Label collection (#125598)
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (#115370)
Paper-Piercing Pack Essentials (#126187)
Paper-Piercing Tool (#126189)
Stampin' Pierce mat (#126199)

Congratulations

Congratulations can be used for so very many things, graduation, job promotion, weddings and on and on. At this point, I can see that I need 4 graduation cards, at least. If I get more announcements, then I'll have to see what I can come up with or repeat some.

  1. This was easy to make. For a graduation card, you can use the school's colors, if you wish. For this card, I used Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight cardstock.

2. The Daffodil Delight cardstock was cut with the Top Note die(#113463) and my Big Shot. After I cut it, I used the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder(#123128).

3. I then stamped the birds from Up in the Air(#122477) stamp set in Night of Navy classic ink. I punched out the congratulations in that stamp with my Word Window(#119857) punch. Punch the Modern Label(#119849) from Night of Navy cardstock. Mount the saying on top of the Modern label. Adhere both the birds and the saying onto the Daffodil Delight Top Note.

4. Use a strip of 5/8" satin ribbon(#114616) to adhere across the bottom section of the Top Note cut out.  Use the Crop-a-Dile (#108362) to punch a hole through the ribbon and cardstock. Add a star brad(#112572) to the Top Note. Then adhere it to the center of the Night of Navy card front.

On the inside you could write " Now it's time to fly" or something along that line for your graduate and add a few dead presidents.

Friends Graduation

This card will go to a sweet young women named Sierra who will graduate from high school May 31. She was one of my second graders many years ago.

The background is Marina Mist cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2." The patterned paper is So Saffron from the Subtles Collection(#117152) cut to 4" square. The Night of Navy cardstock was cut to 3 x 5" and embossed with the Stripes (#123128) Textured Impressions embossing folder and the Big Shot.

The image from The Nicest Things(#120531) is the one that I colored with Watercolor Pencils(#101879) for that tutorial.  Happy Graduation from Teeny Tiny Wishes (#115370) was stamped in Night of Navy classic ink on white cardstock and punched out with the Word Window(#119857) punch and mounted on Marina Mist cardstock punched with the Modern Label (119849) punch. It is attached near the bottom of the Night of Navy with Filigree brads(#112577). The ribbon is Marina Mist Scallop Dots(#122986) ribbon.

The Sky's the Limit

Graduation is coming soon. Many colleges graduate in May and then high schools in June. We like to tell our children that the sky is the limit when they are finishing one part of their life and starting another.

  1. Use the Up, Up & Away stamp set to stamp all these wonderful hot air balloons. Cut them out and place them on top of your scalloped layers. The scallop is made with the Scallop Edge Border punch (#119882).

2. I used some of the Calypso Coral Organdy ribbon(#126060) from the Everyday Enchantment brad and ribbon pack to tie a bow around the bottomof the card.

3. The greeting is stamped from the Up, Up, & Away set in Tangerine Tango and punched out with the large oval punch(#119855). I inked the edges of the oval with the Tangerine Tango ink also.

4. Use some Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430) to place the greeting over the knot in the bow. I also used some dimensionals to pop up one of the balloons.

You might want to include a check inside for your favorite grad!
