Chevron Birthday

Here is the card that I made for the men in my life with April birthdays. Aside from a bit of embossing with my Big Shot, there is nothing fancy about this card. Lately, I've been too busy volunteering to have time to do anything fancy! But I do love my volunteering for Operation Christmas Child!

Materials needed:
Wild Wasabi card stock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Patterned paper from my scrap box 2 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Old Olive ink
Serene Silhouettes stamp set
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set
Certainly Celery grosgrain 5/8" ribbon (from SU! but retired)
Word Window punch
Chevron embossing folder
Stampin' Dimensionals

This is  a super easy card but if you want me to put step by step directions, let me know and I'll be happy to do that.

1. Punch a circle from white card stock. Put Strawberry Slush ink on the embossing folder following the technique here. Place the circle in the center of the embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot machine. Take out of the folder and lay aside.
2. Adhere the Vintage Blooms paper on to the Wild Wasabi card stock. Adhere that to the top section of the Summer Smooches patterned paper about 1/4" from the top.
3. Cut a strip of Summer Smooches patterned paper 1" wide and about 4" long. Cut a triangle out of one end to make a ribbon look banner. Adhere it to the bottom part of the card about 1/2" from the bottom edge.
4. Stamp the image from Serene Silhoutes stamp set on white card stock with Strawberry Slush ink. Cut around the edges. Adhere it to the center of the chevron circle made in #1. Adhere this to the bottom right corner of the Vintage Bloom rectangle.
5. Use small butter punches (I could not find a brand name on the ones that I have & I don't remember where I got them.) to punch 3 butterflies out of patterned paper. Adhere them to the banner on the bottom.
6. Adhere the card front to a card base.

Braided and Folded Chevron

For today's card, I'm giving you a link to another blog. This is My Thoughts Exactly Stamps. Last week, she had a how to on braiding. I took her tutorial and did some braiding. Here is her link. You'll want to follow her directions on the braiding.

I put these braids on a gate fold card. Go to my gate fold link for those directions. Sorry I'm having you click on so many links today.

Materials needed:
Rich Razzleberry card stock
Daffodil Delight card stock
International Bazaar patterned paper (#126920)
Whisper White card stock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2"

1. Cut 2 pieces of the colored card stock at 1/2 x 6" for each of the 2 colors. Follow the directions for braiding found on the link for My Thoughts Exactly Stamps.
2. Fold and score the white card stock and make the gate fold card according to the directions for the gate fold link.
3. Cut 2 pieces of the patterned paper 2 1/8 x 5 1/2" each. Adhere these on the front side of the gate fold card.
4. Adhere the braided chevrons to the 2 sides of the gate fold card. Be sure to put lots of adhesive on these as they are a bit heavier than we usually place on our cards.
5. Add your greeting to the inside.
Do this in black and orange and you can use it for a Halloween card!
It takes a little bit more time folding the chevrons than some other cards but it gives us a different look. It's something you might want to try.

Chervon Thanks

As soon as I saw the Chervon Border Punch in the Holiday catalog, I pictured ribbon running through the cut out. Of course, it can be used in many other ways but that was what my mind's eye saw to start with. I know I'll have fun discovering other ways of using this great punch!

Materials:
Venetian Romance DSP (#130144)
Bermuda Bay cardstock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" and 1 1/2 x 5/12"
Baked Brown Sugar cardstock  2 x 3" plus a small scrap
Simply Sketched stamp set (Hostess #129672)
Pumpkin Pie 1/2" Grosgrain Striped Ribbon (#110715)
Hung Up Cute Clips (#129389)
3/16" Corner Punch (#119871)
Chevron Border Punch (#132154)
Tangerine Tango marker
Gumball Green marker
Baked Brown Sugar In Color ink pad
white cardstock scraps

I have just fallen in love with the Venetian Romance Designer Paper! My romantic side just loves the colors and patterns in this pack!

1. Use the corner rounder to round all 4 corners on the patterned paper. Lay it aside.
2. Punch the Chevron pattern in the Bermuda Bay cardstock. You might want to practice a bit the first time you use this punch. When I first used it, it took me a minute to realize how to line up the cardstock in order to get the punches correct. It's not really hard. It just requires a little more watching than some punches do.
3. Weave a 6" piece of ribbon through the center of the chevron design. Apply adhesive to the back sides of the  punch and to the ribbon. Press this to the left hand side of the patterned paper, leaving about 1/4" of patterned paper on the left.
4. Use the 2 different colored markers to apply ink to the stamp. Give the stamp a "huff" to moisturize the ink and stamp on white cardstock. Cut the flower out close to the stamp edges. Adhere it to the 2 x 3" Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. Place that near the top right side of the paper.
5. Stamp the "thanks so much" greeting with Baked Brown Sugar ink. Cut it out. Adhere it to a small piece of brown cardstock. Cut to have about 1/8" brown border around the stamped greeting. Adhere it to the bottom right of the card.
6. Slide the arrow clip to the bottom right of the patterned paper. Be sure it is pointing the same direction as the chevron.
7. Apply adhesive to the back of the patterned paper and place it on the Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. Put all of this on to your card base.
