Popped Daisy

For today's card, I've used materials that I've had around my craft room for quite a while. The Uppsy Daisy stamp has been retired from Stampin' Up for a few years but it's still a great stamp.

Materials needed:
Upsy Daisy stamp set (SU retired #111710)
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set
Subtles Candy Dots (SU #130933)
Basic Pearls (SU #119247)
Gumball Green ink pad
Marina Mist Striped Organdy Ribbon (SU retired)
White card stock, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" & 2 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Glue Dots
Stampin' Dimensionals
Brilliant Blue Acrylic paint
Stipple brush or other stiff bristle brush
Word Window punch

1. Score and fold the 8 1/2" piece of white card stock at 4 1/4."
2. Open the card stock up to paint. Pour a small amount of acrylic paint onto a plate. Dab the brush into the paint and then dab it on to the card stock. Be sparring with the amount.

When the card stock is covered with paint, allow time to dry. The amount of time needed will depend on how thick you put on the paint.
3. On the other piece of card stock, stamp the daisy image in Gumball Green ink.

Stamp twice across the width of the card stock. Cut out the image along the top of it.
4. After the paint is dry, stamp the daisy image on top of the blue painted card stock with Gumball Green ink. Stamp two images next to each other across the bottom. Stamp a third image in the center, higher than the other two.
5. Add several pieces of dimensionals to the back of the cut out daisy piece. Be sure to put enough to support the card stock. Lay this carefully on top of the painted and stamped card stock, lining it up with the bottom.
6. Stamp a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set with Gumball Green on white card stock. Punch this out with the Word Window punch. Rub Gumball Green ink on around the edges of the punched greeting and adhere to the top right corner of the card. Place Candy Dots on the outside edges of the punched greeting. This will give it the look of brads without having to have a brad go completely through the card.
7. Add 3 small pearls on to the flower image.
8. Tie a small bow out of the Marina Mist ribbon and adhere to the top left corner with glue dots.

Have fun using a different media other than just the stamped image.

Spring look Coasters

To the left is what the top looks like. Below is the bottom with the cork on it.
Coasters are fairly cheap to make. They take a little bit of time but are not hard to do. You can buy inexpensive dominoes at many stores. Our Wal-Mart has them for $5 or $6. I used a double six set made of a cheap "stone" type of material. These instructions are for a type with a clear, smooth surface. In addition to the dominoes, you will need to have some thin cork. You can buy it in most lumber yards, stores like Lowes, Home Depot & some other stores. You need to choose the stamp set that you want to use to decorate the coasters. I used Fifth Avenue Floral (#113734). I chose the daisy in this set. You will also need a roll of Sticky Strip (#104294). Regular adhesive is not strong enough to hold the dominoes together. You will need StazOn Jet Black ink (#101406), and Classic ink colors of your choice. I used Mambo Melon, Pink Passion, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive. 1. First, you prepare you dominoes. Take 6 from the set and measure 4 2" pieces of Sticky Strip and 1 3" piece.
Place one strip of Sticky Strip on the edge of 2 dominoes. Peel the red backing off one and slide another domino up to it. Press firmly together.
Do that again with the next domino so that you have 3 dominos stuck together. Do that again with the other 3 dominoes. 2. You will then place the 3" strip of Sticky Strip on one end of one set of 3 dominoes. Remove the red strip and push the other set of 3 against it. Press firmly.
You should now have all six dominoes stuck together. 3. Flip this over so that you are on the dotted side (the side used when you play a game of dominoes.) Cut a piece of cork to measure 3 x 4." Place Sticky Strip on all 4 sides of cork.
4. Peel the red backing off the Sticky Strip that is on the cork. Place this on top of the dotted side. It should cover all of the dots. Now you are ready to decorate. 5. Before you begin stamping on your dominoes, it's a good idea to decide what type of pattern or design that you want on your coasters. You can stamp it on plain paper to decide and to use as a guide as you work. Using StazOn black ink, stamp the images/design that you want on the empty side of your dominoes. With my daisy from Fifth Avenue Floral, I used a masking technique as I stamped. If you don't know how to do a mask, check here and here for my tutorial on that technique.
Continue stamping with the StazOn until you have finished your design.
The stamp will not stamp the "in-between" places between the dominoes. 6. Next you will color your patterns. First, I used Old Olive and a sponge (#101610) to sponge ink around and on the between spaces of the design. To sponge, you will want to pick up color by rubbing it across your ink pad. Then rub it on the dominoes. 7. For the color on the flowers, I used a cotton swab. I dabbed the tip of the cotton swab onto the Daffodil Delight. Then I dabbed/rubbed the color onto the centers of my flowers. Next, I used Pink Passion. I dabbed it onto the cotton swab & then put it on my flowers. Finally, I used the Melon Mambo to shade and highlight the flowers. Pink Passion is a retired color but their are several other pinks that will work great for this project. 8. After you have the design colored the way you want it, spray the entire coaster top and sides with a clear acrylic spray paint or varnish. Give it several hours to dry and possibly overnight before you put your drinks on it.

Tag album

Part three
This is what the finished tag album looks like. You can see from the pictures that this makes a 2 sided album. I used a total of 3 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock to make the complete album. It gave me 12 pages plus a title page. I hope that all of this makes sense. If any of it is confusing, leave me a comment & I'll try to explain better or clearer to help you in making your own tag album.

Happy Spring!

Happy Spring everyone!
I know I'm a day late but that just shows you how much attention I pay to the calendar. Here in Central Texas we have been having beautiful weather this week. We had rain last week but that was the first time in quite a long time. The "people who know" have said that it wasn't enough to break the drought so we'll all have to pray for more rain. The farmers need it badly. We all do really!

This great spring weather makes me feel like going for a ride in a pick up truck with all the windows rolled down. That's what I was thinking as I put this card together. The bluebonnets are doing very well this spring because we haven't had enough rain for them but the ones in my front yard & flower bed look really nice! So let's load the back of the pickup with some flowers & take them over to visit friends.

This card is made with a Tempting Turquoise background. I inked my Stampin' Around Fast Flowers wheel with Tempting Turquoise classic ink and ran it across the background paper. Looks like we're trucking through a field of flowers. I made my Stampin' Pastels pop with my blender pens. Just use your blender pen to dip onto the color of pastel that you want to use. Then put it onto your card. Do this lightly & gradually blend the color out onto the image. You'll get a great watercolor look.

I love this Loads of Love stamp set and the accessories set too. That's where this cool pickup came from and the girl & flowers in the bed. This set has some cool phrases with it including "friends for the long haul," "driving by with a birthday hi" and "thought you could use a little pickup!" I'll use the "loads of love!" to send a big hug to all my friends!

This little basket is so cute and easy to make. For the eggs, I used one of the stamps in the Wagon Full of Fun set that is brand new to Stampin' Up! It is in the new occasions mini catalog that comes out April 1. Email me if you're interested & I'll send you the mini now so you can be looking at all the cool new sets they've got. Actually, the Wagon Full of Fun & 2 more sets, plus a jumbo wheel can be pre-ordered so that you'll have time to use the Easter stamps before Easter gets here. The flowers on this little basket were stamped & cut out, using a stamp from Best Kind of Friend set. I stamped the flowers on Pink Passion cardstock & made the basket from Tempting Turquoise cardstock, both from SU! of course. The eggs were colored with my favorite Stampin' Pastels. I think chalk must be my favorite medium! I just love using it. Now, where did I get the Easter "grass" for my basket? I took strips of left over cardstock & just ran them through my crimper! So easy, even my youngest grandchild, Jacob, could do it! (Of course, all of my dgc are gifted anyway!) :-)

Oh, btw, if you want to make this cute little basket, let me do a workshop for you & we can make a bunch of them! Now, if you live too far for me to drive (like KS or ID), then email me & I'll send you the template.

Z-card

I love this z-card I made. I used the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and my Stampin' Pastels for the flower images. The side stamp is from the Wonderful Watercolors stamp set. I stamped it in Certainly Celery ink on the Certainly Celery cardstock. I used Whisper White, Certainly Celery, and Green Galore cardstock for my mat. While you can't see the inside in my pic, I've stamped "Joy is to behold God in everything." for my greeting. This is also from the Wonderful Watercolor set.

To make a z-fold card, cut your cardstock to 4 1/4" x 11." Score at 5 1/2" & at 2 3/4" or fold your paper in half & then one side in half again. My layered mat is 3," 3 1/4," and 3 1/2." Have fun making this easy breezy card.

Stampin' Up!

Hi! I'm brand new to blogging so please give me some time to learn all the ins & outs. I love Stampin' Up! products and hope to be able to share some of my creations with you. If you are interested in buying any SU! products either email me or check out my SU! website at judyjohnson.stampinup.net.

This is a lo I recently did of my ds & dil. They went to a "1905" party & everyone dressed up for it. No, my ds is not in law enforcement but he does like his guns!

I used SU! Perfect Plum cardstock for the background, Pal Plum for the center strip, and Lavender Lace for the mat & embellishments. I used So Saffron ribbon and the images are from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set stamped in Whisper White craft ink.
