Baby Best Wishes

This is for a soon to be born baby named Olivia Joy. I know she will be beautiful just like the rest of her family.

Materials needed:
Flirtatious Specialty patterned paper (#122360, retired) 2 x 3 1/4"
Crushed Curry card stock   4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Whisper White card stock 2 x 3"
Animal Stories stamp set (SU retired)
Cross My Heart stamp set (#126582)
Strawberry Slush In Color ink
Regals Candy Dots (#130932)
Candy Dots Brad Bases (#132293)
Stripes Textured Impessions embossing folder (#123128)
Hung Up Cute Clips (#129389)
Brights Collection Designer Buttons (#119747)
Glue Dots (#103683)
Stampin' Trimmer (#126889)
Big Shot

1. Place your Crushed Curry card stock into the Stripes embossing folder. Run it through your Big Shot machine.
2. Stamp the giraffe in Strawberry Slush ink (if you want a card for a boy, Bermuda Bay would be a great color) on the Whisper White card stock. Carefully place the giraffe image in your trimmer. Cut vertically at 1" and horizontally at 1" and 2." This will give you 6 one inch squares. Arrange the giraffe image in the correct order so as not to be confused later. (At least, I would be!) Place a glue dot on the back of each piece. Line them up about 1/4" apart, using the embossed stripes to help keep them even. Press down.
3. Stamp your greeting on white card stock. Trim around the edges. Adhere it to the patterned paper.
4. Place a clip on the top left hand corner. Adhere the entire piece to the right hand side.
5. Add a Candy Dots brad to the top left corner and an Olive Green button to the bottom right side. Adding the greens helps to tone down all the warm colors.
6. Adhere this to a card base and place your greeting or note inside.
Be sure you add your name or initials to some place on the back. Remember, an artist always signs her work!

Photo Collage

Materials:

Mallow Moss textured cardstock 12 x 12”
Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack (#129312)
Little Friends stamp set (122667)
Gumball Green In Color ink
Gumball Green marker
Basic Gray marker
Certainly Celery cardstock 2 ½ x 8 ½”
Whisper White cardstock
Your photos

1. Choose 2 matching pieces of 4 ½ x 6 ½” patterned paper from the paper stack that coordinate with your project. Glue them to the 12 x 12” cardstock with the one on the right side about 2 ½” from the bottom and the one on the left side about 1 ½” from the top.
2. Trim your photos so that they fit together as a collage. I used 5 photos on mine with the sizes ranging from 3 ¼ x 4” to 4 ¾ x 4”. You have to decide the sizes based on your photo. Don’t cut off any important part of the picture. Remember: only you can decide what is important to you. Lay them on the scrapbook paper to see which grouping looks good to you. You can certainly copy my grouping is that works for you. When you are happy with your grouping, adhere.

3. Stamp the 3 children’s images on white cardstock with green ink. Trim around the outside of the images. You can take time to color the images if you wish but I thought that all the green here looked good without extra coloring. Place the images on 3 sides of the paper, around the photos, and adhere.

4. Do hand lettering for your title and journaling. You can find several examples of hand lettering in current issues of Card Maker Magazine that you can find at news stands.

Make larger lettering for your title. On mine my title is simply my grandbaby’s name and birthdate. Make that lettering with a darker green marker. Below that, do your journaling in Basic Grey marker.

5. Attach this cardstock to the bottom left section of your page.

Baby Tees card

Stampin' Around Jumbo Handle (#103661)
Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel (#118621)
Watercolor Wonder Crayons
Garden Green cardstock, 2 x 3 1/2"
Old Olive cardstock, 2 1/4 x 4"
Gumball Green In Color ink
3/8" Designer Printed Brads (#122940)
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (#115370)
Word Window punch (#119857)
Modern Label punch (#119849)
Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430)

To make the background paper for this cute card, just run your jumbo Baby Tees wheel across your Whisper White cardstock. If you've never done this before, here are a few tips on how-to.

Uninked Stampin' Around Cartridges are available for the wheels and you can ink these any color you wish with a reinker bottle. However, if you are only doing a few of these, it's easier to just ink up the wheel on your standard ink pad. Simply run the wheel across the ink pad several times. Be sure to get ink all the way around the wheel.

Lay your cardstock on scrap paper. Begin the wheel off of the cardstock and then roll the wheel all the way to the other side without lifting the wheel until you are done with the strip. You can use the Stampin' Around Wheel Guide (#104834) if it is available but it is not required. The wheel guide will help you get straighter lines but you can use another straight edge to accomplish the same thing.
Repeat the process until the cardstock is totally stamped.

To get the cute little baby tees that I used on the card, run the wheel on a different piece of white cardstock. Then color and cut out 3 of the tees like you see on the card.
Layer your colored cardstock and adhere the tees on top. Pop up at least one of the tees using SU dimensionals.  Add your "hello baby" greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. Punch the greeting out with the punches and attach it to the card with brads.
Everyone at the baby shower will "ooh" and "aah" over your cute handmade card!

Baby Gate Fold Card

For a while I wasn't making any baby cards but lately, it seems like there is one baby shower after another. Between people at church & former students, there have been quite a few. I love baby shower! Maybe even more than wedding showers...

To make the gate fold, use a piece if Whisper White cardstock cut to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2." Score on your new SU! Scoring Tool(#122334) at 2 1/8" and at 6 3/8." Fold each side in so that they meet in the middle.

Cut patterned paper (I used some Island Indigo from the Brights Collection #117155) to 5 1/2 x 2 1/8" to adhere on each side. Don't stick it to the card stock yet but you will want to be sure that it fits here correctly.

Cut another piece of patterned paper to measure 2 1/8 x 4." I used the reverse side of the same paper. That's one way to know that it matches! Adhere it to each side leaving some border on the top & bottom.(Remember, you're not on your card base yet.)

Make your layer to decorate with one piece of 3 1/4 x 2 1/4" white cardstock, 1 piece of 3 3/4 x 2 3/4" of Marina Mist cardstock and 1 piece of 2 1/2 x 3 /12" Certainly Cerlery cardstock. Using you corner rounder(#119871), punch to round each corner on all 3 piece of cardstock.

You will want to decorate your white cardstock before you build the layers. I used stamps from the retired set Animal Stories to stamp my giraffe in Island Indigo classic ink. I also stamped the owl from that set. With the owl, I punched him out with my 1 1/4" circle punch(#119861). Then I punched out another circle of Certainly Celery with my 1 3/8" circle punch(#119860). I stacked & adhered those two to use on my right panel.
Put adhesive on the back of the white and green and layer, white on green on blue. Before you put adhesive on the back of the blue, check to see how far out over the edge of the card it goes. You will want to leave about 1/2" of the layer sticking out over the edge of the left side. If you put adhesive all over your cardstock, it will stick to the other side & glue your card closed. After you put adhesive over about 3/4 of the back of the layer, press it on to the left panel.

Now you can adhere that panel to the left side of your card base. Check to make sure that your card still closes properly.

Now we want to build our right panel. After you put your 2nd piece of patterned paper on the larger piece, cut a strip if 1/2" Marina Mist Scallop Dots(#122986) ribbon about 6" long. Adhere it down the center of this panel and wrap around to the back.

Adhere the owl on top of the ribbon near the top.

Stamp "Hello Baby" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes (#115370) set onto a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock. Punch it out with the Word Window punch(#119857). Punch out a piece of Marina Mist cardstock with the Modern Label punch(#119849). Adhere the green on top of the blue. Using a 1/16" hand held circle punch, punch a hole through the label greeting and the patterned paper. Place a brad from Everyday Enchantment brads through and close the brad on the back.

You can now put adhesive on the back of this panel and adhere it to the right side if the card base. The greeting and the giraffe with both overlap the tops of the card, so just watch how you close it.

Stamp or write a greeting on the inside to the mother-to-be.

Pop up Brag Book

Who doesn't look a brag book to show off your kids and grandkids? Today, I'm going to show you how to make a cute pop-up brag book that you can show to all your friends. There are a lot of steps to this but it really is not all that hard. I learned how to make pop-up books from a lady named Dinah Zike who used to do workshops for elementary teachers all over the state of Texas. I had my second graders make pop-up books showing the 6 flags over Texas, classifications of animals, and all sorts of different things. Just think, if second graders can do this, you can too! lol

I did the label for "GiGi's Brag Book" on my computer. The rest was done by hand. When you open each page, my great-grandson pops up for you to see.

1. Cut 6 sheets of white paper or cardstock(cardstock stands up longer) to measure 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" each. Score and fold each piece at 4 1/4."

2. Cut pop up tabs on the folded edge of each piece. Cut one tab if you are using narrow pictures; cut two tabs for wider pictures. For wider pictures, you could cut the tabs at 1-1 1/2" and 4-4 1/2." Cut and fold the tabs as per the detailed instructions on pop ups, click here and here.

3. After you have cut the tabs on all 6 pages, you are ready to begin to put the book together. Doing one page at a time, place adhesive
on three sides of the cardstock, where you see the arrows here. Do NOT put adhesive across the back/top where the cut and folded tabs are.

4. Place page 2 carefully on top of the adhesive. Try to keep your edges as straight as possible for a neat & attractive look.

This shows you how it looks with 2 pages attached to each other. Repeat the process with each page until you have all six pages together.

This is how 6 pages look.

This show you 6 pages from the back side. You can see that all of my pop ups are not exactly even. That is ok. It doesn't hurt anything. When you are finished, no one will be able to tell.

5. Now you are ready for your cover. Cut a piece of patterned paper to measure 5 n3/4 x 9." The patterned paper that I used was from the SU! Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper(#129919). Score and fold this paper at 4 1/2 and 4 3/4."
6. Cut a piece of ribbon 24" long. I used Real Red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon(#109034). Apply a strip of adhesive to the center of the back side of your paper. Each measure the center or eyeball, whichever way works best for you. Lay your ribbon along the strip of adhesive and press the ribbon in place, leaving excess on each side as you see in the picture.

7. Put adhesive on 3 sides of ONE half of the patterned paper, just like you did when you put the pages together. Do NOT put adhesive along the spine area. The spine needs to be loose so that the pop up tabs can move easily. Place the pages on the adhesive on the back of the cover. Press in place. THEN, you can do the front inside of your book. Put adhesive on 3 sides of the white cardstock. Place the front cover down and press. You should have your ribbon sticking out on both sides of the book in order to tie it closed.

8. Now you are ready to decorate your front cover. I made a butterfly to put on the front of my book. I used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die(#114507) to cut my butterflys. The paper is Marina Mist cardstock and a pattern from the Summer Smooches DSP pack. I only put adhesive on one side of the butterfly so that the other side would look like it wanted to fly.

If you wish, you might add more information on the back cover, like you would find on the jacket of a purchased book. The authors picture and about the author is always cute! And remember YOU are the author so be sure to sign your work somewhere!

9. Now for the inside. Place adhesive on the tabs of one page. Press the bottom of your picture against the tabs to secure it. Check it out to make sure it pops up easily. If it sticks some, you may have put too much adhesive or adhesive over the place the photo goes. Simply sprinkle a small amount of baby powder onto to the excess adhesive and shake off. Your photo or picture can not be taller than 3" or it will stick out the top of your book when you fold it. It is best for the width not to be over about 4 3/4."

Do the pages one at a time, checking the folds as you go. Decorate the pages approiately for your theme. I decorated my inside pages with stamps from Animal Stories(#116716), Choo Choo (#113982), Happy Together(#114314), Forest Friends(#113748), Fox & Friends(#118565) and Little Lambs(#120525).  Some of these stamp sets are retired but there are many more super stamps that you can get for your projects. Write information, such as names, places and dates, on the pages to identify your pictures.

Check tomorrow to see the insides of my book!

Teddy bears & ducks

1. For this baby card, I used the Daffodil Delight paper from the DSP Pattern Stack, Brights Collection (#117155) for the background, cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4."
2. Using the duck from the Every Little Bit stamp set (#120558), I stamped a row of ducks across the bottom of the patterned paper. I stamped in Daffodil Delight ink for a tone on tone look.
3. I cut a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock to 2 3/4 x 3 3/4." Using the Scallop Edge border punch (#119882), I scalloped the short sides.
4. I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 2 x 3." I used my corner rounder (#119871)to round off all 4 corners. I sponged Daffodil Delight ink on the edges with a Stampin Sponge (#101610) that I had cut into quarters.
5. Then I stamped 3 teddy bears from the Every Little Bit set in Creamy Carmel, a sun, and 4 flowers from the same set in Daffodil Delight.
6. I adhered the stamped images to the center of the Certainly Celery cardstock. Then I adhered that to the center of the Daffodil Delight paper, just above the ducks.
7. Using the "Hello Baby" greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes (##115370), I stamped it onto Certainly Celery cardstock with Old Olive ink. I used the Word Window punch (#119857) to punch out the greeting. Yes, I love this stamp set & punch. They make cardmaking soooooo very much easier because every greeting in this set will fit perfectly in the Word Window punch. What more could you ask for?
8. I adhered the greeting in the center top above the teddy bears. I then punched a hole on each side with my handheld circle punch (#101227). I choose 2 brads from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad Pack(#127279) that I got free with the Sale-a-Bration promotion. (You still have until March 31 to get free products.) I pushed the brads through & bent them over on the back. I think the little butterflies go perfect with the stamped "picture."
9. For my last embellishment, I tied some Lucky Limeade organdy ribbon (from the same pack as the brads) around the card, near the bottom of the Certainly Celery cardstock. I'm not good with tying bows so I've discovered this little trick that helps me. I put 2 or 3 glue dots (#103683) in strategic places under the ribbon. It's really not necessary to keep the ribbon there but it sure does help in making the bow look more like I want it to, instead of sticking out every which way!
10. I then adhered my card front to a piece of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" Whisper White cardstock that I folded at 4 1/4." That hides the back ofthe brads & the back of the ribbon. I think it gives it a more professional look also.
I then stamped my verse from God's Blessings(#114972) on the inside.
Now it's ready to go with the gift I bought for my young friend, actually a former student. I actually love it when former students invite me to their weddings & baby showers. I really feel something special for these children that I taught(mostly in 2nd grade) who have now grown up to be productive members of our country! Tomorrow see what I did with doilies.
Your next hop will be to Bridgett's adoreable blog! Stamping with Bridgett.
