Easel Card for Dad

1. Start with a piece of white cardstock cut to measure 4 ¼ x 11.” That’s cutting your paper the long way instead of the usual card cut.

2. Score the cardstock at 5 ½,” and at 2 ½” from the left. Then flip the card and score at 2 ½” again on the reverse side.

3. Before you continue with the easel, you want to make your card front. Cut Well Worn (#122359) patterned paper to 4 ¼ x 5 ½” for your background piece. Cut a coordinating piece from Well Worn to 3 x 5 ½.”

4. Using the Scallop Edge Border (#119882) punch, cut a border down the long side.

5. Use Early Espresso classic ink to ink the edges all the way around. I like to use sponge daubers (#102892) on the scallop border because I think it gives it a better look but you could also just wipe it across your ink pad. Adhere this to the left side of the card front.

6. Cut a piece that is from the back of the paper you used for the scalloped edge. You should have scraps for this. Cut it to measure 1 ½ x 2 ½.” Place your letters for the word “Dad” on this piece. You can use sticker letters or I cut the letters with my Cricut and the Lyrical Letters cartridge. Adhere this to the card front slightly off center.

7. Cut a piece of Daffodil Delight ¼” grosgrain (#120928) ribbon to about 6.” Tie a knot in the center. Place adhesive on the back and put it about 1’ from the bottom of the card, wrapping the ends to the back. Press it down.

8. Using stamps from Circle Circus (#115778), stamp 3-4 circles on Daffodil Delight and Whisper White cardstock with Daffodil Delight classic ink. Punch these out with the various circle punches. Punch out of Night of Navy cardstock a scallop circle (#119854), a 1 ¼” circle (#119861) and a ½” circle (#119869).

9. Build 2 medallions with the circles. The one I have on the card front uses 4 circles and the one on the inside piece uses 2 circles. Use SU! Dimensionals(#104430) as you feel looks good to build the medallions. Adhere the larger one to the card front slightly overlapping the “Dad” tag.

10. Add a circle brad(#112571) to the top right side of the card front. Adhere the card front to a 4 ¼ x 5 ½” piece of white cardstock.

11. Now you will make your easel. Fold your white cardstock on the 5 ½” score and one 2 ½ ” score so that it makes a triangle.

Lay the cardstock back flat and adhere the bottom part of the card front to the 2 ½” folded part of the card base.

12. Cut a piece of white cardstock and a piece of coordinating patterned paper to 4 ¼ x 2.” Glue them together.

13. Cut 2 pieces of Daffodil Delight ¼” grosgrain ribbon each about 5” long. Adhere them across the piece made in #12 in parallel lines wrapping around to the back. Place the small medallion that you made in steps 8 & 9 to the right side of this overlapping the ribbon.

14. Use Early Espresso and your sponge dauber to ink around all sides of this piece, including the edges of the ribbon.

15. Stamp a greeting on a piece of coordinating patterned paper with Early Espresso classic ink. The one I used was from an older SU! Set called Define Your Life (#114950). It has definitions of various words like “you: The one and only; the one I value as my friend and love each day. The person in my thoughts.” Punch it out with the scallop oval punch (# 119856). Use Early Espresso classic ink and your sponge dauber to ink all the way around the oval. Adhere it to this piece.

16. Place Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of this piece to lift it a bit. Adhere it to the card base at the other 2 ½” score line but do not fold this score. You can now stand your card up like an easel by letting the card front rest on the lip made by the cross piece.
